Hello, my name is Jane Germano and I’d like to introduce myself and my company to you. I have been working with children for 42 years. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Vocational Home Economics. I have taught in Germany, New Mexico, Deltona and Panama City, Florida, as well as here in Colorado Springs.
My husband, Geoffrey Germano, was in the United States Air Force for 22 years causing us to move every 3 to 5 years. Moving was my least favorite thing to do. However, because of his service, we were fortunate to have great experiences living in Germany, Florida, New Mexico, and Colorado. Traveling in our new locations was a wonderful adventure.
When we moved to Colorado Springs, I wanted to do something different. I thought it would be exciting to open a business but still work with children. I thought it would be a great marriage to work with younger children and have a business. I was very fortunate to have a husband that encouraged and supported my idea. Hence, the birth of The Complete Child, Inc. doing business as Young Scholars Academy!
Young children have a wonder of the world around them. They are curious, have a desire for exploring their surroundings, and are interested in everything. Young Scholars Academy’s goal is to expose children to as many learning experiences as possible.
I researched, studied and took classes to make sure that I produced the correct environment for each child in our program. I wanted to create an environment that would give the children in our care an environment that inspires, encourages the curiosity and wonder of the world.
If Young Scholars Academy’s teachers can give each and every child in our care the love of learning, we have accomplished our goal.
Jane Germano, Owner
My name is Jen Winters. I have the incredibly blessed opportunity of being the Director of Young Scholars Academy. My journey with YSA started on March 30, 2001. So many faces, so many lives touched and yet the core, the very spirit is alive and well. Young Scholars Academy was and is different. For this reason, I chose it after much searching for my three children. They are older now but have wonderful memories of teachers, field trips, lessons, meals and songs.
As I mentioned I am a mother of three and married to my best friend. I owned a couple of other businesses in the community. I have completed my degree in Early Childhood Education! Along with being a member of Alliance for Kids and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) I am so blessed to be President of the Pikes Peak Chapter of CAEYC. With this I focus on focusing more attention to the Early Childhood field and the professional development of our teachers here in Colorado.
When I began in the field of Early Childhood Education I was a teacher’s aide. I worked my way up watching, learning and growing. I can cook meals for hundreds, drive the school bus and change diapers. I think it is important to know and remember all pieces of the puzzle when creating quality. I believe that when we are all connected, children win. Being a director is not a job, it is truly a calling. I am passionate about creating the best environment for all.
My vision, within our vision is to help people achieve their dreams, to make a positive impact on their lives, whether they are one or thirty seven.
Hello my name is Jordan! I have literally been here since I was 4 years old. I grew up here at the school, I did the Pre-K program, Summer Camp you name it! Before I was 16 I would always volunteer and of course my parents dragged me here on the weekends, this place really is my second home.
Being that it is my family’s business I have many roles here doing anything and everything that needs done, but technically I am the Marketing Director. I have schooling specifically in Early Childhood Education and Marketing, grateful that 2 passions were able to collide!
My name is Amanda Purdue and I am currently one of the Assistant Directors at Young Scholars Academy. I have worked for Young Scholars Academy for over five years and can’t imagine growing with any other company. I am pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in Child Psychology at Pikes Peak Community College. I want to make a difference in the lives of children and their families by supporting them any way I can.
