Our Mission Is Different
We aim to create an engaging learning environment, filled with meaningful fun activities that create such big memories, your kids will happily remember throughout the years!
Here at Young Scholars Academy we pride ourselves in the quality of our establishment and maintain an environment that is clean, safe and loving for all. Our classrooms provide every child a place where they can explore, discover and enjoy learning through kinesthetic experiences.
Our Story

In 1993 our owner, Ms. Jane had the crazy idea that she wanted to open a child care program. When she brought the idea to her husband, Mr. Geoff, and he was all in. Unfortunately at the time Young Scholars Academy was becoming a thought, Mr. Geoff would need a kidney transplant and also diagnosed with other medical conditions. He knew that YSA would help focus Ms. Jane and help her through his passing when the time came. Mr. Geoff did pass away in 2012.
Their idea was that if we can create a place that will nurture and foster a child’s love of learning, that will be something they can keep with them throughout the years! Since the Germanos couldn’t have children of their own, why not have 200?
We didn’t start out as Young Scholars Academy though; we were first a franchise program located in a strip mall- can you believe it? After some time we wanted to branch out and become our own program with a curriculum, philosophy and teaching styles of our own!

And our dreams came true… !!! We moved into our new building in September of 2008 and have been growing ever since!
What we didn’t know was as soon as we moved in, the market would crash…. It definitely affected our small business like so many across the nation.
Hardship came upon our family as we basically struggled to stay afloat. Then on top of that all, we lost our owner Mr. Geoff in 2011… everyone was heartbroken to say the least.

We share this story with you because we feel that if you are going to trust someone with your most precious person on Earth, you need to know about the family taking care of them. We are stronger now since those hardships. We know Geoff would be proud of the program that would stand before him today. He even further would be proud of how we have handled/are handling the current COVID-19 pandemic!
Our program has now been awarded multiple honors throughout Colorado Springs and have been NAEYC-accredited (National Association for the Education of Young Children) since 2014!

When we say we’re a family-run business, we want you to know that we truly mean it! There’s no one else who can better take care of your family than by a family that grew up here!
The Winters family started with Young Scholars Academy in 2001 and never left! Ms. Jenn, Executive Director, started as an teacher-aide then earned her degree to become both Group Lead and Director qualified.
It was at rock bottom that the whole Winters crew decided to go all in. We didn’t want to leave all of our families but we were struggling, emotionally and financially. Mr. Neal then left his job of 20 years and came over to the school. The family even took a huge pay cut because to us, the mission is more important than the money! We improved everything: from our classrooms and playgrounds, to our mission and the team motto- EVERYTHING!
The one thing that stayed consistent the entire time was our passion. More than proud to say that stress, hard work and worry has paid off — we are still able to positively connect with preschool families here in Colorado Springs.
We work weekends, stay up late, come in early — all to make sure that our families have the absolute best program and early education for their kids. From cleaning toilets to doing maintenance requests, we do it with absolute joy. Your babies are only babies once and we want to make sure they have a childhood to remember!
We would love to meet you and see if we’re a great fit for your family!
